Las Alasitas farm is one of the most beautiful and well-organised coffee farms we’ve visited. Located in a steep, lush mountain valley in Caranavi, the farm is owned and run by our long-time coffee supplier Pedro Rodríguez and his family.
The Rodríguez family are recognised worldwide for their unwavering belief in, and tireless advocacy for, the quality and potential of Bolivian specialty coffee and the small-scale farmers that produce it. Like all the family’s farms, Las Alasitas is used as a ‘model farm’, to teach local producers about best agricultural practices. It’s also the site of the family’s nursery, where they trial several different coffee varieties.
This microlot is a Java variety coffee – a variety that is famous and prized for its elegant, well-balanced cup profile. The result of the super special variety coupled with the family’s fastidious work is a beautifully floral, clean and vibrant coffee in the cup.
