As our coffee offering changes seasonally to ensure you’re brewing the freshest beans, our bundle line-up changes accordingly.
In this bundle, you’ll get one 250g bag of Yaye from Ethiopia and one 250g bag of El Faldón from Colombia.
Our first coffee on offer is the incredibly sweet and complex coffee from a very special washing station – Yaye, which is located near the village of Cherico in Sidama. Yaye is owned by our longtime supply partners Testi Specialty Coffee, and represents one of their best processing sites. Yaye produces some exquisite coffees which are a reflection of the unique terroir, and the care and attention taken by Testi to process their coffee. This particular lot was produced using coffee from 50 small producers, which was then natural processed. The natural method has been executed carefully, so that in the cup this coffee delivers amplified sweetness and fruit characteristics, while conveying a strong sense of place.
The second offering is the delicious El Faldón from Colombia. Producer Rubén Darío Gómez always dreamed of owning a coffee farm. Growing up in the remote hills of Caicedo, he left school early, and spent over a decade travelling across Antioquia, working as a coffee picker. Eventually, Rubén saved enough money to buy a small parcel of land near the remote village of La Noque. The farm had steep inclines and cool temperatures, and was widely considered unsuitable for coffee. Friends and family urged him to reconsider. Rubén laughs when he recalls his response: “I really had no choice.” Thankfully, Rubén persevered – and the coffee thrived! Rubén now farms two hectares of coffee alongside his wife, Rosa Eleny, working tirelessly together to expand their coffee plantation, and to continue to innovate and invest in their farm and its infrastructure.
