Faraday Street, Carlton

This little shop is located in one of our favourite pockets of Melbourne, on Faraday Street in the heart of Carlton.
Our Carlton cafe sits in the front room of an historic terrace, right next door to Baker D. Chirico between Lygon St and Drummond St. We sell coffee beans for home here, as well as brewing equipment and homewares, and of course, delicious espresso and filter coffees to drink.
We opened this store in January 2013. The space was designed by Sarah Trotter of Hearth Studio. Sarah has gone on to design nearly all of our shops, but this was our first collaboration, and perhaps the most challenging given its size (which is only 12 square metres)!
But for us, the compact size of our Carlton cafe is what makes it so special! The small space and limited seating create a lovely sense of intimacy and community, as people gather both inside and out to wait for their takeaway coffees, or sit and enjoy their coffee in the sun along with a croissant or Bombolini from Baker D. Chirico. Many lifelong friendships have been forged in this space, and we cherish the loyal and lovely community that surrounds this Carlton coffee shop.
