This coffee has notes of dried mango and blackberry with a toffee finish.

La Esperanza was established 31 years ago by producers William Buitrago and Aminta Mahocha Franco. Their beautiful property sits on the steep valley walls of the Rio La China, a small river which is used as a water source to grow and process the family’s coffee.

William and Aminta are always looking to the future. In 2019, they told us that they had gifted each of their children, Mauricio and Geraldia, a plot of land. They hope that this will encourage them, and other young people in the region, to continue their legacy of producing exceptional coffee.

As well as being a dedicated coffee farmer, William is also an avid apiarist; at La Esperanza, he cultivates over 30 beehives. For him, the bees and coffee are deeply connected: the coffee blossoms lend their sweetness to the honey, while the bees help pollinate the coffee trees. In the cup this coffee has a beautiful toffee sweetness, lovely fruity notes and a juicy body.

William Buitrago has encouraged his son Mauricio to enter the coffee business.

William and his wife Aminta Mahocha Franco established their farmhouse, Finca La Esperanza, as the centre of the property.
