This coffee has a creamy texture, with notes of cherry, hazelnut and milk chocolate.

We’ve been sharing beautiful coffees from Julio Palli and Lupe Media since 2019. The pair grow coffee in the Caranavi area, on their five-hectare farm, San Bartolomé, named in honour of Julio’s dad.

Like many local producers, Julio and Lupe initially depended on the local market, which meant low prices and little reliability. Then, in 2016, they joined Sol de la Mañana – an initiative aimed at helping producers improve their farming practices, in order to create a more sustainable future for Bolivian coffee. The outcomes have been profound, with improved quality and quantities resulting in higher premiums for participating farmers.

Ten years on, San Bartolomé is a thriving farm with exceptional yields. “I’m already living my dream,” Julio told us. “I wanted to build a house in Caranavi and now I have that. Now I hope my children learn more about coffee and continue down this path.”
