Hacienda Carmona is a beautiful, sprawling estate located in the heart of the Antigua Valley. It has been part of the Zelaya family for four generations, since the family first began cultivating coffee over 100 years ago.

When we first began our partnership with Hacienda Carmona, it was owned by Maria Zelaya, who grew coffee and ran a thriving dairy farm for 60 years. Maria was known for her determination and generous spirt. As her family recall, “she left a piece of her heart in every corner of the farm – from naming each cow to knowing and helping every single farm worker and listening to the stories of all who passed through”.

After Maria passed away in 2024, her family came together to continue her legacy. Today, coffee production is led by Maria’s nephew, Ricardo Zelaya (pictured), who similarly balances tradition with innovation, resulting in Hacienda Carmona’s enduring reputation for excellence.
