The Gesha coffee variety is prized by coffee professionals and enthusiasts worldwide for its abundantly floral and delicate cup profile. After first tasting a Gesha coffee in 2008, producer Ricardo Zelaya (pictured) was blown away by its complex flavours. Determined to grow the variety himself, he sourced seeds through a friend at Panama’s famed Finca La Esmeralda estate, and planted them in the highest part of his family’s coffee estate, Santa Clara, in Guatemala’s beautiful Antigua region.
As the fourth generation to farm coffee at Santa Clara, Ricardo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his work. Under his meticulous care, the Gesha trees thrived, eventually producing coffees like this one, with its distinct florals, tropical fruit acidity, and silky texture. We have been lucky to source Ricardo’s exquisite Gesha lots since his first production in 2013 and every consecutive year since. Each year we look forward to tasting and sharing this unique and delightful coffee!
