This holiday season, Market Lane is offering a gift-wrapping service for a $2 donation, all of which will be given to Children’s Ground. Our gift wrap is designed by talented artist Rachael Sarra. Rachael is a First Nations artist from Goreng Goreng Country who believes in the power of art and design to centralise First Nations people and perspectives, and to connect communities and cultures.

In June this year we wrote to our community, outlining some of the steps we are taking to become an actively anti-racist business. This was in response to the worldwide Black Lives Matter protests, which prompted us to reflect on the racism and injustices that exist here in Australia, and to honestly examine our own role in both the problems and the solutions. We realised we were not doing enough and needed to do more.

The worldwide Black Lives Matter protests over the last two weeks have been confronting, enlightening, inspiring, devastating and galvanising. As individuals, and as a business, these events have forced us to reflect on the injustices and racism that exist here in Australia, and to examine our own role in both the problems and the solutions.
