As it's probably pretty obvious, we love the Queen Victoria Market! We love having our little Therry Street shop right across the street, and popping over to get some delicious goodies and chat with the market vendors. We've loved being part of the general market community since we opened across the street in 2009.
So when a spot opened up in the bustling Dairy Hall section of QVM, where John and David had their pharmacy for 40 years, we jumped at the opportunity to open a Market Lane shop in this beautiful, historic and beloved Melbourne institution, dedicated to quality food and beverage, and quality customer relationships.
For the design of this new Market Lane space, our fourth, we worked with Sarah Trotter of Hearth Studio. Great care was taken to preserve and showcase the original 1920s heritage features of the store – the high level panelling, the ornate nickel window frames, and the Carrara marble benchtops – and to introduce new elements that complement these features, and serve the simplicity and functionality of the space. The result is a beautiful, bright and welcoming corner shop.
Customers can stop by for a cup of delicious Market Lane coffee – brewed through espresso and pour over – and to stock up on brewing equipment for home, as well as bags of coffee, freshly roasted and ready to be popped into your canvas bag next to bread from the Caiafa's bread shop and cheese and olives from Bill's Farm.
