This coffee is floral with notes of blueberry, nectarine and toffee.

2024 is the seventh consecutive year that we’ve been sharing beautiful coffees from Testi Coffee in Ethiopia. Founded in 2009, Testi is a family business that does a fantastic job of sourcing coffees from quality-focused growers, paying fair and sustainable prices for those coffees, and processing them with great care.

This coffee was grown by some 750 farmers near the village of Werka in the West Arsi region. These farmers grow coffee organically on small plots of land (averaging two hectares) alongside food crops like corn, grain and bananas. At harvest time, they deliver their ripe coffee cherries to Testi’s Gara Kone washing station. This lot was then carefully processed using the natural method – the cherries were dried whole, in the sun, with the beans still inside.

In the cup, Werka has everything we look for in a natural-process Ethiopian coffee. It’s sweet and rich, with complex fruit and florals…and it’s utterly delicious!

Jason and Milla from Market Lane with Testi Coffee’s agronomist Shemelis Bogale.

750 independent farmers contributed cherries to this lot.

The coffee was processed at the Gara Kone washing station.
