As our coffee offering changes seasonally to ensure you’re brewing the freshest beans, our bundle line-up changes accordingly. In this bundle you’ll receive one 250g bag of our Seasonal Blend, which contains Familia Rodríguez from Colombia, and El Fuerte from Bolivia and one 250g bag of Santa Isabel from Cobán, Guatemala.
70% of our Seasonal Blend is Familia Rodríguez from Colombia’s Nariño region. This coffee was produced by the Rodríguez brothers – Jairo, Ulpiano, Alirio and Luis Omar. Like many in the area, they were forced to leave Nariño in the 1990s due to fighting between the government and FARC guerrillas. They were able to return in the early 2000s, and have since found specialty coffee production to be a sustainable and stable form of income. 30% of the blend is grown in Samaipata, Bolivia by Pedro Rodriguez and his team at El Fuerte farm. Samaipata was historically a food-growing region, and wasn’t known for coffee production at all. Pedro changed that when he planted coffee there in 2013 and discovered that it thrived in the region, producing a distinctive and exceptional cup profile. This espresso blend has notes of milk chocolate with nectarine and brown sugar.
Santa Isabel Estate was founded in 1875 and today it is owned by Luis Valdés Sr, and managed by his son Luis Jr, whose nickname is Wicho. Growing up watching and helping his father on the farm, Wicho fell in love with coffee from a young age. He later went on to study Agriculture before returning to work on the farm in 1998. Wicho is fastidious in his approach to farming and processing, and he is continually evaluating and investing in farm improvements to enhance quality. These days, Wicho has three kids of his own, and they spend their weekends and school holidays with him on the farm. "I hope they will find a love for coffee like I did," he says.
