Santa Isabel Estate is a 300-hectare farm in Guatemala’s Alta Verapaz department – a unique, mountainous growing region with a cool climate, dense rainforest and high rainfall. The Valdés family has been farming here since 1875, and the estate is now run by fifth-generation producer Luis ‘Wicho’ Valdés, who we’ve been buying coffee from since 2011.

Wicho is fastidious about every aspect of his coffee production. He is continuously investing in farm improvements, to further enhance coffee quality, and to better care for and preserve the area’s natural environment. Most recently, he has used the application of natural microorganisms to his coffee trees to eliminate all use of pesticides and most of his fungicide reliance.

This lot is a special selection from Santa Isabel. Each day-lot from the farm was cupped, and the sweetest, most floral beans were combined to create this vibrant and complex coffee.
