Enjoy two of our filter coffees with this special coffee bundle, perfect for those who brew using filter methods like pour over, Aeropress, plunger and Moccamaster. As our coffee offering changes seasonally to ensure you’re brewing the freshest beans, our bundle line-up changes accordingly. In this bundle, you’ll get one 250g bag of Las Piñas from Colombia and one 250g bag of Werka from Ethiopia.
Las Piñas was produced by Reinaldo Parra in Colombia’s Ibagué region. Reinaldo is a generous and influential coffee producer; many of his neighbours look to him for agricultural tips and guidance. His farm is comprised of two steep slopes, with his house and his small mill and drying beds situated between them. At harvest time, Reinaldo and his family do most of the coffee-picking themselves. They then hand-pulp the coffee and place it inside a fermentation tank. Like many producers in the area, Reinaldo uses an extended fermentation technique, adding extra beans over a 2–3 day period. This contributes a vibrant, winey acidity to the coffee’s cup profile, as well as a delicious honey sweetness.
Werka was grown by some 750 farmers near the village of Werka in Ethiopia’s West Arsi region. These farmers grow coffee organically on small plots of land (averaging two hectares) alongside food crops like corn, grain and bananas. At harvest time, they deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the Gara Kone washing station, run by our long-time supply partners, Testi Coffee. This lot was then carefully processed using the natural method – the cherries were dried whole, in the sun, with the beans still inside. In the cup, Werka has everything we look for in a naturally processed Ethiopian coffee. It’s sweet and rich, with complex fruit and florals…and it’s utterly delicious!
