This coffee was produced by Edward Sandoval on his 13-hectare farm in Tolima. When our Colombian export partners at Pergamino introduced us in 2022, they told us, “Edward is a rare breed of coffee producer.” This is because he has a long history of working as a technical advisor and QC cupper in both Colombia and Guatemala, and now brings a vast wealth of knowledge and experience to running his own farm.
Edward’s farm sits in the foothills of the beautiful Los Nevados National Natural Park. He purchased the property in 2015 and got to work updating the infrastructure with the goal of maximising the land’s potential through higher yields and outstanding coffee quality. He named the farm Canta Ranas – ‘singing frogs’ – in homage to the family of noisy frogs that live by the property’s natural spring.
This lot is a Chiroso variety coffee; Edward favours Chiroso for its high productivity in Tolima’s cool climate and its exceptional cup profile. The coffee was hand-picked and carefully wash-processed on-site at the farm’s small mill. The result of all this hard work and dedication is a beautifully floral and complex coffee with delicious tropical fruit notes in the cup.
