This week, we're celebrating the release of Gara Agena from Sidama, Ethiopia. This spectacular coffee won an impressive 2nd place in the 2024 Taste of Harvest - an annual competition to seek out the most exquisite coffees in Africa.
Gara Agena is a washing station owned by our Ethiopian sourcing partners, Testi Coffee. By establishing washing stations in areas with favourable growing conditions and paying premiums for well-harvested cherries, Testi ensures that they receive extremely high quality fruit, resulting in coffees with outstanding sweetness, complexity and distinction.
Around 450 farmers deliver their coffee cherries to Gara Agena to be processed. For this lot, the coffee was meticulously hand-sorted and graded, and the healthiest, ripest cherries were carefully dried in the fruit on raised beds.
It only takes one sip of Gara Agena to understand why the international panel of judges ranked it so highly — in the cup, this coffee is intensely sweet, vibrant, lively and complex. We're thrilled to have this distinctive Ethiopian microlot on offer. We hope you enjoy!
