How to Clean and Descale a Moccamaster: a step-by-step guide
Cleaning the water reservoir and internals of your Moccamaster brewer will help remove any water build-up, coffee oil residue or contaminants that may have accumulated in the machine. Here are some simple steps to ensure that your Moccamaster is clean, running smoothly and producing exceptionally delicious coffee.
Cleaning Your Moccamaster
What you'll need
– Cafetto cleaner
– Water
Steps

Fill the water reservoir with lukewarm water.

Add one teaspoon of Cafetto cleaner to the water reservoir.

Turn the Moccamaster on. After 1 minute, turn the brewer off and allow it to rest for 5 minutes.

Turn the machine back on and finish the brew cycle.

Once finished, run clean water through the Moccamaster a couple of times.
Descaling Your Moccamaster
What you'll need
– Half a litre of vinegar
– Water
Steps

Pour half a litre of vinegar and half a litre of water into the reservoir.

Turn the Moccamaster on. After 1 minute, turn the brewer off and allow it to rest for 5 minutes.

Turn the machine back on and finish the brew cycle.

Once finished, run clean water through the Moccamaster a couple of times.

Moccamaster recommends cleaning your machine every 2–3 months.
If you live somewhere with hard water, we recommend descaling your Moccamaster every 3 months; for places with soft water, we recommend descaling your machine once a year.
