This is the second year in a row that we’ve collaborated with Collective Closets on a limited-edition bag. Back by popular demand with a beautiful colour refresh, this versatile and roomy carry-all can be used for any occasion and at any location – the beach, the park, the market or on holiday. It features a generous outside pocket, and an internal drawstring to hold the bag’s form and keep all your things together. This colourful bag is durable and machine washable – and it will brighten any outfit or day!
A special collaboration
The special connection between fashion label Collective Closets and Market Lane Coffee was formed in 2019, when both businesses had shops on Victoria St at the Queen Vic Market. Over many cups of coffee, we discovered that we have a shared set of values and, in particular, a love and appreciation for East African coffee, culture and creative craftmanship.
This beautiful bag is the result of that shared passion. It was designed and made in Australia by Collective Closets with shúkà fabric sourced from Kenya. This bold and colourful fabric is worn by the Maasai, a semi-nomadic warrior tribe that herds cattle across southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. The Maasai are known for their strength, courage and community, and their distinctive and vibrant dress.
With this collaboration, Market Lane and Collective Closets are excited to celebrate and share some of this unique colour and beauty in our hometown of Melbourne/Naarm.
