This coffee has notes of white nectarine and black tea with a sweet lime acidity.

Anastase Minani has been working in coffee since 1970. He purchased his first plot of land in 1989, planted it with coffee trees and built his home there. To prevent his community of farmers from having to rely on middlemen, he co-founded the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative in 2000. He went on to serve as the co-op’s president from 2011 to 2016.

Today, Anastase is one of the co-op’s biggest producers, and he’s a role model to many in his community. Now in his 70s, he plans to plant his coffee seedlings closer to home, so that he can continue to oversee all farm activities with less effort.

It’s rare to be able to trace a coffee to a single producer in Rwanda; most are traceable to a washing station or farmer group. In this case, it’s made possible by the relatively large size of Anastase’s farm (1.2 hectares) and the co-op’s ability to process small lots at its own dry mill. We feel very lucky to have this sweet and vibrant coffee on offer. We hope you enjoy!

Antastase Minani is a deeply knowledgeable producer, who has worked in coffee for over 50 years.

Antastase is a founding member of the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative.

This lot was wash-processed and carefully dried at the co-op’s Ruli washing station.

Now in his 70s, Anastase is a mentor and role model to many farmers in his community.
