From Central Kenya’s Kirinyaga growing region comes this sweet and complex coffee, grown by 1500 small-scale farmers. These farmers typically farm on 3–5 hectare plots of land, where coffee grows alongside crops like bananas, tea, maize and beans.
All the contributing farmers are members of the New Ngariama Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Society. At harvest time, they deliver their ripe cherries to be processed at the Cooperative Society’s Kamwangi washing station. This lot of coffee was processed using the washed method and then dried on raised beds.
Kamwangi is a superb example of a coffee from the Kirinyaga region. We love its intense sweetness, its complex acidity and its beautiful clean finish.
