World Coffee Research: A crucial coffee cause worth supporting
World Coffee Research’s mission is to grow, protect and enhance supplies of quality coffee, while improving the livelihoods of the families that produce it. It’s the only global organisation taking a coordinated, collaborative and worldwide approach to scientific research into coffee.
The Santa Clara Scholarship Fund
The Zelaya family founded the Santa Clara Scholarship Program in 2011 to help support their farm workers children’s education. Many children in Guatemala are forced to stop going to school early because school fees, and associated costs like school uniforms, are unaffordable for their families. We made our first contribution to the fund in 2014, and have been contributing every year since.
Bolivia: putting the ‘special’ in specialty coffee
The coffees we source from Bolivia come mostly from very dedicated producers, who own very small pockets of land – often only a couple of hectares each – and produce a handful of bags of coffee a year. Often, these farmers work with their neighbours, in order to produce enough specialty coffee for export and to ensure that their output is sustainable.
