Enjoy this very special book-and-coffee bundle that exemplifies and celebrates the talent, perseverance and hard work of some of Rwanda’s women coffee producers.

Producer Victoria Mukamurenzi grew up in a farming family and later joined forces with her husband to grow coffee. Their lives were transformed when they joined the Dukunde Kawa cooperative in 2002; they began to earn sustainable prices, and received agricultural and financial training. Victoria is also an integral member of the co-op’s Rambagirakawa Women’s Group, a collective of women coffee farmers who share crucial resources and support. It’s extremely rare to be able to trace a Rwandan coffee to a single producer. We’re absolutely thrilled to have this delicious coffee from Victoria on offer this season. In the cup, you’ll find a honey sweetness with notes of orange and black tea and an almond finish.

Victoria is featured in Strong Women Behind a Strong Coffee, a beautiful book created by Rwandan photographer and writer, Denyse K. Uwera. Deeply embedded in the lives of women coffee producers in Rwanda, Denyse wanted to upend stereotypes and let these incredible women tell their own stories, in their own words. The result is a stunning book of photo portraits and accompanying essays that gives the reader a greater understanding and appreciation of these women’s journeys and their joy, their challenges and perseverance, and their investment in coffee and the sense of community, stability and autonomy it brings.

100% of the profits of this book will be donated to ‘Supporting Strong Women’, a fundraising campaign for the Rambagirakawa Women’s Group. The money raised will be used to build a child day-care centre – a long-held goal that will directly impact the women’s productivity and prosperity, while ensuring their children are cared for in a safe, happy and nurturing environment.
