This Korean-language filter brewing class is taught by Julie, a talented barista and manager of our Victoria St shop, and is otherwise identical to our Learn How To Make Filter Coffee class.
Who this class is for
Market Lane’s filter brewing class is for anyone who is curious about making beautiful coffee at home, or anyone already making coffee who wants to learn more and improve their skills. When done well, filter brew methods produce an excellent cup of coffee with great clarity of flavour. We love making and drinking filter coffee, and showing people how easy, fun and satisfying it can be. Whether you’re just starting out, or you want to develop your filter coffee technique, palate and vocabulary, this class is for you!
What you’ll learn
In this two-hour class, we’ll explain how coffee is grown, harvested and processed before it arrives at our roastery, and how to use the information on a bag of beans to choose the coffee you’ll love the most! We’ll be spending most of our time brewing and tasting coffees together, and you’ll learn how to make plunger coffee (French press), Aeropress, and pour over. We’ll talk about how we assess a brew and find accurate flavour descriptors for a coffee, and you’ll learn how to adjust the recipes to make your coffee taste just the way you like it.
What to expect on the day
This fun, hands-on class has a maximum of four participants. We’ll spend most of the session making coffee, and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion of tips and tricks for coffee brewing. You can drink as much coffee as you like during the class, and we’ll send you home with a bag of Market Lane beans and a copy of our brew guide.
